Irish forestry board Coillte and utility ESB selected the German manufacturer to supply 11 turbines of 3.2MW to the 35MW Raheenleagh project in Country Wicklow, east Ireland. The SWT-3.2-108 direct drive turbines will be fitted with long rotors of 108-metres.
Raheenleagh is due online in May 2016. The deal includes a service agreement of ten years.
Another Irish wind project deal was handed to Siemens — to supply 22 turbines of 3MW to the 66MW Galway Wind Park Phase 1 being developed by Scottish utility SSE. Galway Park is made up of four projects in west Ireland.
Phase 1 will use the 3MW turbine with a 101-metre rotor, which Siemens said had been designed for extreme wind conditions. Siemens will also service the turbines for five years once it has been commissioned in 2017.
The third contract announced will see Siemens deliver turbines to the Aikengall 2 project in southern Scotland. UK developer Community “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç owns and will operate the site.
Siemens has been contracted to supply 19 3.2MW turbines with a 113-metre rotor to the project. It is scheduled to be commissioned in summer 2016 and will be serviced by Siemens for 20 years.
