The network was set up in 2012 to bring together major players in the offshore wind industry. Its launch was supported by prime minister David Cameron, and then-energy minister Ed Davey.
Offshore wind developer, Danish firm Dong Energy, was among the Norstec signatories.
Its role was to communicate the scale of the opportunity and the benefits offshore wind offers to the public, business and within political spheres.
In 2014, it set up the Norstec Academy to introduce students to the offshore wind industry. The academy will be renamed as the Offshore Wind Academy and run by trade body RenewableUK.
The original networking operations has been taken on by the new Seastar Alliance, which is being chaired by Mainstream Renewables' global head of corporate affairs, Adam Bruce. It is a pan-European collaboration designed to strengthen cooperation between EU institutions, governments and the offshore wind industry.
The alliance was launched at the EWEA Offshore 2015 event in Copenhagen, Denmark in March.
Finally, Norstec's public-engagement role, which looked at highlighting positive offshore wind news has been taken on by the Offshore Wind Programme Board.
Norstec and RenewableUK chairman, Julian Brown, said the network had been a success: "Now that these individual initiatives have found long term homes Norstec can be wound down in the knowledge of a job well done."
