The €1 billion project is located 90 kilometres from the German coast. Installed there are 80 Siemens 3.6MW turbines in water depths up to 32 metres.
Construction activities took just over two years to . The turbine was installed in on 2 April 2014, and all 80 were in place within four months.
DanTysk was developed by Swedish developer Vattenfall and German utility Stadtwerke Munchen. The project is Vattenfall's first offshore development in Germany.
The partnership is also developing the nearby 288MW Sandbank project, set to begin construction this summer.
Representatives from both companies, including Vattenfall CEO Magnus Hall, joined German minster for economic affairs Sigmar Gabriel at the opening ceremony today.
Gabriel said the DanTysk project is a "real boost" to energy transition. Hall added it was a milestone "for Germany, for Europe and definitely for us at Vattenfall".
The project is connected to the German grid via the recently commissioned transmission network.
A 50-person platform is still to be installed at the site. The permanent platform is expected to be finished by the end of the summer.
