Speaking to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç TV at EWEA Offshore 2015, he said: "What we are concerned about is that they could not just cut costs but they could also cut safety. We are encouraging the industry to also take into consideration safety and human factors when they are improving their cost perspective."
Sandve argued that since offshore wind is still a young industry, there is plenty to learn in terms of health and safety, but this could be threatened without the right level of investment.
"There’s a lot of work going on trying to develop guidelines and regulations for offshore wind," he said. "Other industries like oil and gas have spent 40 years getting to where they are now.
"We see that in offshore wind they have a way to go, but there is a great deal of work coming both from countries, but also from groups of companies that are trying to put health and safety at the forefront."
