Axys Technologies has a floating sentinel currently deployed at EDPR's WindFloat project.
Howe said the data collected by the sentinel shows the Principal Power floating turbine is performing as expected.
"The performance of the floating wind turbine is consistent with what the designers expected, which means we will be able to support a future expansion of the project," he told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç TV.
In November, the Portuguese government has approved a €19 million grant to go to Principle Power's 25MW WindFoat phase 2 project.
Windfloat phase 2 has already been awarded €30 million in European Union NER300 funding. It is planned for a site 20 kilometres off Viana do Castelo, northern Portugal, at a depth of between 85 and 100 metres.
