Turbines have grown taller over the decades, with the tallest hub heights on offshore turbines now touching 200 metres.

But the view from any turbine can be impressive and while we spend so much time looking up at them, it is not often you get to see the view down.

Included in this gallery are pictures from projects from all over the world. Partnerships for Renewables' 4MW Oakdale project in Wales uses Senvion's MM100 2MW turbine — the first project in Europe to do so. It was also constructed in a former coal mine.

There are also views from GE's McLean's Mountain project in Canada. The 60MW site uses 24 2.85-103 turbines.

There are even some offshore projects, with views across Belwind 1 and Baltic 1.
