The €1.7 billion investment in a data centres in Galway, Ireland and Jutland, Denmark will support Apple services across Europe. The centres are expected to be operating by 2017.
Apple have committed to completely powering the new centers with renewable energy and will "work with local partners" to develop additional projects, including wind sites.
According to the Apple statement, all of its data centres run using renewable energy. Apple was unable to reveal where it was likely to source the power from or how much would be from wind.
Apple is not the only technology firm to use wind for its services. Google, Facebook, Amazon, and Microsoft have all signed agreements to use wind energy.
