The move comes following the receipt of a key certificate from DNV GL last month, allowing commercialisation of the turbine.

The company is installing the final pieces of machinery at its factory in St-Nazaire, where it makes the nacelles and generators. The first units rolling off the production line will be delivered to the 30MW Block Island project off Rhode Island in the US.

Manufacture of the 238 turbines destined for the three French offshore projects (Fécamp, Courseulles-sur-Mer and St-Nazaire) being developed by EDF Energies Nouvelles and Dong Energy will start in early 2017, starting with those for Fécamp. Alstom will have to deliver six or seven machines a month to the three projects.

Alstom recently also received building permits for that will produce blades and towers for the Haliade.
