At the same time, further details have emerged about the 36 companies selected to build plant of 20-50MW in the first round of a tender for independent power producers under the new feed-in tariff (FIT).
Selected companies include Orascom, Elsewedy, ACWA Power, GDF Suez, Acciona, Enel, Terna Energy, Sino Hydro, China International Water and Electric Corporation and Tata Power.
Egypt's New and Renewable Energy Authority said the government will inform the developers of the exact capacities and the next steps to be taken later this week.
The government will issue a second call for proposals for 250MW under the FIT program to reach the target of 2GW.
