MPI readies for Amrumbank charter

UK: MPI Offshore has used its new UK base in the northeast to prepare its MPI Adventure vessel for turbine installation at E.on's 288MW Amrumbank West project in the North Sea.

MPI Offshore has taken permanent residence of Tees Base, northeast UK

MPI Adventure is set to start installing 80 Siemens 3.6MW turbines at the site in the German North Sea.

Amrumbank West is due to be completed later this year. Monopiles, transition pieces and a substation have been installed at the site, located 37 kilometres off the Heligoland coast.

MPI recently took over the Tees Base facility to be used as a mobilisation and demobilisation centre for its growing fleet.

Earlier this month, MPI acquired the Victoria Mathias turbine installation vessel from RWE Innogy.

The vessels firm said the facility had quayside and hard standing areas suitable for offshore turbine components.
