Gamesa wins 25MW in Jamaica

JAMAICA: Gamesa has won a 24MW deal for its G80 2MW turbines to go to a project in southern Jamaica.

The Wigton 3 project is being built by the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica in the south of the island. Gamesa said the project will come online by February 2016 and the turbines would be delivered in Q3 2015.

According to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica has around 39MW installed at the Wigton 1 project.

Wigton 1 uses Micon 900/52 turbines. Overall Jamaica has a wind capacity of 41MW. In addtion to Wigton, another 39MW project is being developed in Saint Elizabeth..

This project represents Gamesa's first supply deal in Jamaica.
