JDR appoints new CEO

UK: JDR Cables has appointed David Currie as its new CEO, replacing Andrew Norman, who stepped down from the role in September.

JDR has provided cabling for offshore wind projects in the UK and Germany

Currie joins from offshore oil and gas firm Aker Solutions, where he was president and head of UK from January 2014.

He previously worked for solutions provider FMC technologies, most notably as director of global subsea operations.

JDR's executive chairman, Pat Herbert, said Currie "brings a vast wealth of experience in the global subsea industry". Herbert had been filling in as CEO since September.

A specific reason for last year was not given, but a spokesperson at the time said it was to bring about a "change of leadership to take JDR into the next stage of growth.

At the start of September 2014, JDR was awarded the contract to design and manufacture inter-array cables for the being developed in UK waters by Statoil and Statkraft.

It was also contracted by Siem Offshore to supply inter-array cables for in Germany in August.
