Nkt Cables handed Race Bank contract

UK: Nkt Cables has been awarded the contract by Dong Energy to supply export cables to the 580MW Race Bank project in the North Sea.

Nkt will manufacture the Race Bank cables at its Cologne facility

The €80 million order covers the manufacture and delivery of 150 kilometres of 220kV high voltage cables.

Manufacturing will take place at Nkt's facility in Cologne, northwest Germany. The order has been split into two phases with the first phase set for delivery in 2016. The final phase will be delivered in 2017.

Nkt said the deal is subject to a final investment decision (FID) on the project by Dong.
