The manufacturer will supply the towers during 2015 to an unnamed US turbine manufacturer. They will be produced at the company's factories in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and Abilene, Texas.
Broadwind said that this latest order brought its orders for 2015 to almost three quarters of the two plants' capacity. The two factories have a yearly capacity of 500 towers.
The company's president and CEO, Peter Duprey, said that he is confident that the remaining capacity will be filled before the end of the year, and added that the firm is "in discussions with customers for additional commitments into 2016 and 2017".
In April 2013, Broadwind sold its Brandon tower manufacturing plant in South Dakota for $11.7 million after putting it up for sale in 2011. The plant had been idle due to a lack of orders.
On announcing its orders, Broadwind habitually declines to name its customers.
