The Damen WSV walk-to-work vessel will support and accommodate turbine maintenance crews at sea.
The monohull boat has been designed to provide accommodation and on-site work facilities for as many as 45 maintenance workers and 15 crew members for up to one month.
The design includes a telescopic gangway to allow a three-man maintenance team to "walk to work" between vessel and turbine. It also features a helicopter platform and a motion-and-heave-compensating crane.
Damen said that it has designed the vessel to be environmentally friendly, economically viable and efficient in operation, as well as providing comfort for the crew.
The company claims that its shallow 4.6-metre draft optimises comfort while also offering power savings. The main propulsion comes in the form of a diesel electric motor, which Damen claims increases the vessel's environmentally friendly credentials.
The vessel is a monohull with the bridge amidships. It has a beam of 20 metres and is 90 metres long. Deck space of 500 square metres will be available, as well as 400 square metres of internal storage space.
Damen said that it expects the vessel to have 80% weather operability in the central North Sea area.
