Enercon delivers first E-115 turbines

NETHERLANDS: Enercon has exported the first E-115 3MW turbines to a project in the Netherlands.

A prototype of the E-115 has been operating in Germany since last year

The new turbines are being installed near Lelystad, 40 kilometres from Amsterdam. They are due to be completed by the end of this year.

A prototype of the turbine has been running at a site near Lengerich, northern Germany since December. According to Enercon it has generated 18% more energy that the 3MW E-101 turbine already installed there.

This is 4% higher than the expected increase in output by the turbine. When the prototype was installed, Enercon said that at average wind speeds of 6.5m/s at 149 metres hub height, the E-115 should generate an annual output of roughly 9.3 million kWh - just 14% higher than the E-101's output.

Enercon's prototype was also fitted with segmented rotor blades.

The E-115, which was originally unveiled as a 2.5MW turbine, entered serial production earlier this year.

Enercon said it is now preparing to export the turbine to markets outside of Europe.
