Chinese buy 28MW Gamesa project

SPAIN: Gamesa has sold a 28MW wind farm in Spain to Chinese electric utility China Huadian Corporation.

The project is made up of 14 Gamesa G90 2MW turbines

The Barchin project is located in Cuenca in Castile–La Mancha in central Spain. It features 14 Gamesa G90 2MW turbines and began operating in 2012.

Under the terms of the deal, Gamesa will continue to provide the operations and maintenance services while the project is under Huandian's ownership, as well as handling its commercial and administrative management.

"The transaction falls under the scope of the 2014 disposal plan, which calls for selected asset sales that contribute to the company's cash flow generation and debt reduction targets," Gamesa said in a statement.

The Spanish manufacturer and developer highlighted the fact that this is one of the first sales of a wind project in the country since the government brought in reforms retroactively removing subsidies for wind farms.

The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
