Tecsis, the largest manufacturer of blades in Brazil, already has 12 factories all based in Sao Paulo.

It currently exports about 50% of its production, and is expanding for further exports to exert its might in Brazil, said sales director Paulo Cerqueira Garcia.

"We are a strong producer and with our expanded facilities our competitors will think twice before coming here. I am closing the door," he said.

The new factory will start serial production in early 2016.

The company manufactures blades to client's designs. A demand for longer blades has meant Tecsis must provide facilities to make blades of up to 70 metres, a far cry from the 27 metres that it started with 16 years ago.

Market demand is forcing manufacturers to produce more energy from the low wind turbines, said Garcia. He added: "Brazil’s wind is not too high speed and is very flat without turbulence. It is good for low wind turbines, and to get more energy from these turbines you need larger blades."

After-market servicing is another focus for the company. Its sister company, WindCom, provides product support for the blades up to installation and blade services for operations and maintenance contracts.

Currently it handles installation care for about 70% of Tecsis blades, and operations and maintenance servicing for about 25%. It offers these services to other blades as well. "This will be a bigger business for us in the future," said Jose Paulo, general manager of WindCom.
