James Fisher acquires Grimsby base

UK: James Fisher Marines Services (JFMS) has acquired an area at the port of Grimsby to set up a new base in the north of England.

James Fisher will set up a new base at the port of Grimsby

The UK-based marine services provider will use the shore-side support base for operations in the renewable and marine sectors.

The company already has bases in Barrow, Great Yarmouth, Lyness on the Orkney Isles and Newhaven.

Grimsby has seen significant investment recently and the new base includes secure lay-down facilities and offices.

JFMS said the new base would allow the company to rapidly mobilise its remotely operated underwater vessels and dive systems. The new operations centre is also closer to the company's clients.

Last week, James Fisher announced it was entering a joint venture (JV) with excavation specialist KDM Marine. The JV will operate in the renewables sector under the name James Fisher Mass Flow Excavation Ltd.
