GE wins 94MW Scottish order

UK: GE has won a contract to supply turbines with a capacity of 94MW for installation on a wind farm in the north of Scotland.

The project will feature GE's 2.85MW turbine

The US manufacturer will supply 33 of its 2.85-100 turbines for the Dunmaglass wind farm, near Inverness, which is being developed by SSE Renewables.

The 2.85MW turbines will be installed on specially designed 70-metre towers so as to meet height restrictions that stipulate a maximum tip height of 120 metres.

SSE acquired the Dunmaglass wind farm from Renewable Energy Systems Group in May 2013. GE did not provide a timeline for the turbine installation, but the project is due to come online in 2016, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence.

SSE has around 3.3GW of renewable energy capacity in the UK. It operates 139 GE wind turbines, with a further 43 due to be commissioned by the end of 2015.
