After an eight-year permitting process the permit, dated 15 April 2014, covers 41 wind turbines with 5-8MW capacity each, adding up to 205-328MW.
The project is located in cluster 1 in an area prioritised for wind energy use in the German exclusive economic zone of the North Sea. The project company is Northern Energy OWP West. It said it will issue an invitation for equity investors in the project later this year.
The company behind the project, OW EVS, describes itself as a developer and services provider for offshore wind farms. It was founded in 2011 as a joint venture between construction company Strabag and East-Frisia-based offshore wind developer NOW (Nordsee-Offshore-Wind).
