Siemens restructure brings new head of energy

GERMANY: Siemens has appointed a new head of its energy divisions as it moves to restructure the business.

Lisa Davis will take over as head of the energy businesses

Vice president of alternative energies at Shell, Lisa Davis, will replace Michael Suess as the head of the newly reformulated wind power and renewables division as well as power and gas, and power generation services businesses.

The company gave more details on the restructuring first reported by “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç in March. The creation of a wind power and renewables business means the reversal of the move in 2011 to separate off the company's wind division from other renewables such as solar and hydro.

Siemens has announced that it will be cutting its number of divisions from 16 to nine. Current wind power CEO Markus Tacke will be the CEO of the new wind power and renewables division.

These changes and the new appointment also come as Siemens prepares a bid for Alstom's energy business.

Siemens said that previous head of the energy division Suess has left the company with immediate effect due to "personal reasons and by mutual consent".

Davis will take over at the helm on 1 August. Until then, CEO of the energy services division Randy Zwirn will head up the businesses.
