The turbine was installed at the Høvsøre test site on west Denmark's coast. It will be tested and certified prior to the first deliveries by the end of 2014.
The low-wind IIIa class turbine's design is targeted at the American market and the Danish firm has already received large orders for the model.
In August, Vestas agreed to supply 400MW of V110 turbines to EDP Renováveis for use in the US.
Duke Energy Renewables also ordered 200 V110 turbines in September to be used at the Los Vientos III and Los Vientos IV sites in Texas.
Vestas said the new turbine will have an annual energy production that is 13.6% higher than the company's V100-1.8MW low-wind turbine.
The new model features longer, 55-metre blades as well as a strengthened gearbox compared with Vestas' previous 2MW turbines.
