The upgraded 3MW turbine has a new version designed specifically for medium wind sites.
The company said the turbine will feature a "more robust design" for medium wind environment.
The structure of the turbine's 125-metre blade and the controls has been optimised for IEC IIb medium class wind sites.
The company will highlight the new designed at the AWEA windpower expo, being held in Las Vegas this week.
The first Design Assessment for the new turbine design is expected by the end of 2014 with deliveries expected in early 2015.
Acciona already as seven Design Assessments associated with the AW3000 platform.
The AW125/3000 turbine was originally designed for IIIa and IIIb low wind sites and the company has already reported 400MW of firm and conditional orders for it since the launch in 2013.
