Negotiations for the 6MW turbines planned are already underway with manufacturers Siemens and Alstom.
Building is penned for 2016 and 2017 for pilot and demonstrator, respectively, Eólica Brasil CEO Marcello Storrer told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç.
As special interest projects, Storrer expects permits to be fast tracked. The company submitted requests to the environmental licensing agency third week April.
"We are dealing with Siemens and Alstom, but are likely to define the supplier as soon as we get a final price," said Storrer. "If Siemens Financial Services invests 10% of the CAPEX, we shall have a deal with them."
Specifically, the turbines currently under discussion are the Siemens SWT 154-6MW and Alstom 6MW Haliade.
After the two initial stages, Eólica Brasil is focusing on three additional commercial phases, each at 270MW, bringing combined capacity of the initial cluster to 1,080MW, all located in coastal waters near the town of Amontada.
For that cluster, the Asa Branca project "already has five years of wind data" with most other major developing permits in place, said Storrer. Nevertheless, the commercial phases still require environmental licenses, grid connection permits Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and financing.
