Akuo selects GE for 95MW Texas project

UNITED STATES: French developer Akuo Energy has handed GE a 95MW order for the Rocksprings Phase I project in Texas.

The Rocksprings project in Texas is currently under construction

GE will supply 56 1.7-103 turbines for the project, located in Val Verde county, and provide a full service for the operation and maintenance of the turbines.

The project began construction in December 2013 and is due to become operational at the start of 2015. Rocksprings will be developed in two phases, with a further 85MW planned in the future.

Akuo said the deal was the third turbine agreement with GE, which has previously supplied services in Turkey and Montenegro.

The French company is also working on the 42MW Ogorje wind farm in Croatia, which is expected to start construction later this year.

GE unveiled the 1.7-103 turbine earlier this month saying it had been designed specifically for the Indian market.
