The 1.7-103 turbine will be suited to low wind conditions and is based on its 1.7-100 turbine that GE launched last year, but with a larger rotor.
GE already manufactures blades for a 103-metre rotor, using them on its 3.2MW machine.
The company said that it expects the new turbine to generate 30% more energy annually compared to the company's older 1.6-82.5MW turbine.
GE said that the launch of the new turbine reflects GE's "strong commitment to India", a market that it sees as "rapidly increasing" its commitment to wind, the company said in a statement.
