XEMC expects 50% growth this year

CHINA: Chinese turbine manufacturer XEMC has said that it expects to post a 50% increase in sales in 2014 after a positive start to the year.

Company chairman Zhou Jianxiong said that orders so far this year far outstrip those placed by this time last year.

The Chinese Wind Energy Association figures show that XEMC delivered a total of 1.1GW of turbines in 2013, up 27% on the previous year.

The company put the increased sales down to a fall in the cost of its main product, a 2MW direct-drive turbine suited to low-wind sites.

XEMC has also developed a 5MW turbine, which is being marketed as an offshore machine in China as well as being targeted at the onshore market in Europe.
