Vestas wins 82MW Romanian service contract

ROMANIA: Vestas has been handed a contract to provide operations and maintenance services on an 84MW Romanian wind farm.

The deal covers Vestas V90-2MW turbines

The Danish manufacturer will service the 42 V90-2MW turbines at the Topolog Dorobantu project near Tulcea in the east of the country.

The deal has been struck with Lukerg Renew, a joint venture between Rusian energy firm Lukoil and Italian developer ERG Renew.

Vesatas said that the agreement provides an energy-based availability guarantee that ensures the turbines are operational when the wind is blowing. It also includes a surveillance system that remotely controls and monitors the turbines.

This is the first project in Romania to be subject to such a service agreement with Vestas. The last of the 42 turbines are expected to be installed in April this year.

Lukerg has had significant dealings with Vestas since the JV was created in 2012. Last year, it bought two projects in Romania and Bulgaria from Vestas for EUR 127 million.

In 2012, Lukerg Renew also signed an order for 36 V90-2.0 MW turbines from Vestas for another Romanian project.
