Siemens chosen for 21MW German community project

GERMANY: Siemens has won a contract to supply turbines with a capacity of 21MW for a community project in Germany.

The project will feature 3MW Siemens turbines

The manufacturer will install seven direct-drive SWT-113 3MW turbines at the Holzacker-Knorburg project in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein.

Delivery and installation of the turbines is expected in early summer, with commissioning due before the end of the year.

The project is being developed by community-owned company Bürger-Windpark Holzacker-Knorburg.

Siemens will also provide operations and maintenance services under a 20-year service agreement.

The machines, with a rotor diameter of 113 metres and hub height of 92.5 metres, are suited for medium- to low-wind sites.

This is the first installation of the SWT-113 in the state.
