Dutch company OWS, which provides crew transfer vessels to the offshore wind industry, signed the deal with compatriots Damen at the end of December. Construction of the vessel at Damen Shipyards Singapore has begun and it is due to be delivered in October.
The Twin Axe Fast Crew Supplier 2610 is designed to enable the safe transfer of personnel on to platforms or wind turbines at wave heights of more than 2.5 metres. The vessel has a maximum speed of 26 knots, with a range of 1,200 nautical miles.
The 26-metre long vessel has an onboard crane and offers accommodation for a crew of four and 12 passengers.
