SWM acquires third Nordex project

FRANCE: German utility Stadtwerke München (SWM) has acquired a 12.5MW wind farm in western France from Nordex.

The Dehlingen wind farm, which is located in Alsace, consists of five N90/2500 wind turbines. It was built on a turnkey basis by Nordex.

It is the third project SWM has bought from the manufacturer. The others are the 10MW Chaussée de César Sud, near Bourges in central France, and the 10MW Filieres project in Lorraine, France. The utility also owns the Sidensjö project in Sweden, which uses Siemens turbines.

Speaking about the latest deal, SWM chairman Florian Bieberbach said the company was hoping to increase its wind portfolio. He added SWM's aim is to generate enough electricity to cover Munich by 2025.

SWM is a municipal utility for the capital state of Munich. The company says it produces to produce 2.8 million megawatthours of electricity a year.
