ETI appoints offshore strategy manager

UK: The UK-government backed Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) has appointed Stuart Bradley from GE Power Conversion as its offshore renewables strategy manager.

He takes over from Nick Clarke who took up the post in January and left in August to become a freelance consultant.

Marine engineer Bradley will be responsible for the organisation’s strategy for its offshore wind and marine technology programmes, including its proposed floating offshore wind projects.

In September ETI applied for consent to install and operate the PelaStar tension leg platform prototype at its test centre in Cornwall. It is in partnership with Alstom and will use its Haliade 150-6MW offshore wind turbine.

The ETI is also designing an 80-metre segmented blade for offshore use.

Bradley joins ETI from Rugby-based GE Power Conversion and has a PhD in mechanical engineering from Brunel University.

Founded in 2007, ETI is a public-private partnership between global energy and engineering companies BP, Caterpillar, EDF, E.on, Rolls-Royce, Shell and the UK government.
