E.on plans to double size of Scottish farm

UK: E.on is consulting on doubling to 100MW the size of its Camster wind farm near Wick in the far north of Scotland.

Further turbines amounting to 50MW are proposed to be built adjacent to the current development, which consists of 25 Vestas V80 2MW turbines.

The company said that the plans are still at a very early stage, with the firm carrying out a local consultation before applying for planning permission from the Highland Council to install two meteorological masts on the site.

"After bringing our Camster wind farm into operation this summer, we're very aware of the area's wind resources, infrastructure and connections to the local power network," said Emma Clark, senior project developer.

"We believe the site is a very good location for a wind farm and look forward to working with local people to understand and consider their views during this projects development."

If the development goes ahead, the community benefit payment would be £5,000 a year for each MW installed and available during the operation of the wind farm.
