GERMANY: Power cable installer VSMC has completed the first stage of laying 52 inter-array cables for RWE's 295MW Nordsee Ost wind farm in the German North Sea.

VSMC started the work on 3 August and completed the installation of the first phase of 25 cables within a month, it said in a statement.

The work, which is being conducted by Visser & Smit Marine Contracting, will involve 64 kilometres of cables in total and is expected to be completed by mid-2014.

The start of the project was brought forward by using the Normand Flower vessel, which had finished the cable installation at Meerwind Süd.

The wind farm consists of 48 Repower 6.15MW turbines.
