The Bodangora wind farm was assessed and recommended for approval by the Department of Planning and Infrastructure, and the final determination was granted by the Planning Assessment Commission (PAC).
Local pressure groups had raised concerns that the proposed farm could affect the health of the nearby population, but the PAC report said: "There is no published scientific evidence to link wind turbines with adverse health effects ... noise levels at distances of more than one kilometre from the turbines would not cause health impacts."
Infigen said that a "significant number" of alterations have been made to the project to account for environmental constraints and to address concerns highlighted through the community consultation process.
"We were able to design a layout that is strategically positioned to harness the stronger wind resource, while still maintaining sensitivity to the environmental constraints of the site," said senior development manager Frank Boland.
The farm will be made up of 33 turbines, a substation, tracks and cabling.
