Nordex strengthens Pakistani presence

PAKISTAN: Nordex has secured a 50MW order for a wind project in Pakistan's Sindh province.

New project in Pakistan will use Nordex N100 2.5MW turbines

The FWEL 1 wind farm shareholders, the Fauji Foundation and the Cap Asia (Malaysia) infrastructure fund, have ordered 20 N100 2.5MW turbines from the German manufacturer.

The deal includes a three-year operations and maintenance (O&M) contract to take effect at the end of the warranty period. The project is scheduled to go on line in the second half of 2014.

Nordex has supplied turbines to two other wind farms in Sindh and the close proximity of the three projects will allow it to "centralise the provision of services under the warranty and O&M contracts", said the company.

"The experience we have gained with such complex projects and the technical adjustments to our turbines for operation in such climatic conditions are key determinants for leading market position in Pakistan," said Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, a Nordex management board member.
