SOUTH AFRICA: Vestas has won a 105MW order from EDF for three projects in Eastern Cape, South Africa.

The contract is for Innowind, which is 80% owned by EDF. Vestas will supply 35 V112 3MW turbines to the Chaba, Waainek and Grassridge projects.

Delivery is set for mid-2014 with the aim to commission the projects by Q3. Vestas said it is its largest order in South Africa.

In June Vestas won a deal with a consortium led by GDF Suez to supply turbines totalling 94MW for a project in the Western Cape. Last month, it announced a 93MW deal from Exxaro and Tata Energy for the Tsitsikamma wind farm in Eastern Cape province.
