Bremerhaven-based shipyard, Lloyd Werft, has created a new business division dedicated to offshore wind. It has identified offshore wind as one of the few growth areas within the large ships market.
Lloyd Werft has modified installation vessels for RWE Innogy - the Victoria Mathias and the Friedrich Ernestine - and recently converted the OIG Giant II (formerly the Combi Dock IV) for offshore renewables service.
Looking ahead at what the company terms a "changeable" market, Lloyd Werft says it will prioritise winning contracts to repair, upgrade and classify offshore wind vessels.
