Export cable applications for 21 separate offshore wind projects are being assessed by German Baltic Sea transmission system operator (TSO), 50Hertz. If all the projects were to be built they would result in more than 6.1GW of new offshore wind capacity.
But this is an impossibility since some projects are competing for overlapping sites, as recently reported by “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Offshore.
Just three of the wind farms featured among the 21 transmission-to-shore applications have construction permits. These are 288MW EnBW Baltic 2, 400MW Wikinger and 400MW Arkona-Becken Südost.
Ten proposed projects overlap with other potential wind farms. These are:
-Baltic Eagle with Strom-Süd
-ArkonaSee West with Ostseeperle
-Strom-Nord with Ostseeschatz,
-Arkona See Ost with Windanker
-Adlergrund Gap with Wikinger-Süd.
As of the end of February, the 21 projects being assessed by 50Hertz for electricity transmission to shore were:
