GeoSea wins two foundation contracts from Dong

Innovation and Pacific Orca lined up for 2014 work

Dong Energy has chosen GeoSea to install foundations at two of its upcoming projects. At Westermost Rough, the Belgian contractor will install 35 foundations. At Borkum Riffgrund 1, it will install 77 with scour protection. The Innovation will be deployed at Westermost Rough, the Pacific Orca at Borkum Riffgrund 1.

The new contracts have "assured" GeoSea’s growth "in the coming years", says the company. It is forecasting annual revenue for this year and next of €350-400m.

Owned by Deme Group, GeoSea and several of its ‘sister’ companies are currently working on two Belgian offshore wind projects, the third phase of Thornton Bank and Northwind. The multi-phase Thornton Bank project should be completed this summer, taking total capacity to 325.5MW.

As recently reported, installation of the first foundation at Northwind has been achieved and the project is due for full commissioning next year.

Deme-owned firm Tideway Offshore Solutions is providing erosion protection and cable-laying services in Belgian waters, while another Deme company, Dredging International Marine & Waterway Solutions, is providing general coordination and engineering.

Several Deme-owned vessels with dynamic positioning capabilities are being deployed on the Belgian projects, including Neptune, Goliath, Flintstone and Pompei.
