Aimed at the UK Round 3 projects, those in Scottish territorial waters and other north-west European markets, its 105m legs will be able to install components at water depths of up to 65m. Seajacks also has options for the construction of an additional two units.
The Great Yarmouth-based offshore installation contractor serves both the offshore wind and oil and gas industries. It recently expanded from its core north-west European market, with the launch of Seajacks Japan.
Blair Ainslie, CEO of the Seajacks Group, said: "Seajacks Scylla is a significant milestone for Seajacks and for the offshore wind industry. She is a Round 3 vessel and is more technically advanced than any other installation vessel that we see on the market today."
He added: "Seajacks Scylla has been developed to meet the installation needs of jumbo-monopiles, jackets and turbines of future wind farms in deeper waters and further from shore." It will be delivered in the second half of 2015.
To date, Seajacks International has installed over 830MW of turbines in European waters. It is currently involved in the construction of the 288MW Meerwind Süd / Ost project in the North Sea.
