The 42MW order was placed by Eko Energija, a company owned by EnerCap Power Funds, which specialises in private equity investments in clean energy projects across central and eastern Europe. The contract follows a similar project between EnerCap and Vestas in Poland, which became operational last year.
Vestas will also provide its Scada monitoring and control system and a comprehensive seven-year service package. Delivery of the turbines will start early next year and the project is expected to be commissioned during the second quarter of 2014.
"This wind power project is another important milestone in the development of Croatia’s promising wind market," said Thomas Richterich, president of Vestas Central Europe. "Vestas is pleased to receive this 42MW order for Eko Energija and to support their vision and business case with reliable wind turbines, services and our 30 years of wind energy experience."
