The manufacturer has received a firm and unconditional order for 47 V90 2MW turbines from Aurora Wind Power, a joint venture between GDF Suez, Investec and Kagiso Investment.
Turbines will delivered to Aurora's project site in the Western Cape in the third quarter of 2014, with the project expected to be commissioned by May 2015.
"This confirms Vestas' market leading position in South Africa, where Vestas has won 36% of the megawatts in the first two auctions," said Vestas Southern Africa country manager Phylip Leferink.
"We look forward to building on this success and further developing, together with our long-standing and global partner GDF Suez, exciting wind opportunities in the country."
Today's announcement follows two South African deals late last year for Vestas that totalled 140.8MW. In November 2012 the firm signed a deal to supply 37 V100 1.8MW low wind speed turbines to the Hopefield wind farm in Western Cape, and in December signed another deal for 41 V100 1.8MW turbines.
All three deals include 15-year service agreements.
Today's announcement by Vestas follows the news last week that construction work had begun on South Africa's first tower manufacturing plant, which will supply Vestas and Nordex projects.
