EUROPE: “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç technical writer Eize de Vries spoke to Mecal director Frans Brughuis at EWEA 2013 about the company's design for a 12MW turbine.

Mecal’s starting point for the machine was a 6MW offshore turbine with a 155-metre rotor diameter and 98-meter hub height. Research and upscaling resulted in 12MW with a 200-metre rotor diameter and 120-metre hub height.

In the interview, Brughuis speaks about what will be required to take the concept off of the drawing board. This includes reducing the blades and casting the massive components.
