Envision signs US condition monitoring deal

UNITED STATES: Envision has secured a deal from Atlantic Power to provide a condition monitoring system for a 300MW project in Oklahoma.

The Canadian Hills project uses Repower's 2MW turbine

The deal is the first for Envision in the US and is part of the Chinese company's aim to establish its brand in the US.

The Canadian Hills wind farm in Oklahoma primarily uses Repower 2MW and Mitsubishi 2.4MW turbines. Envision will provide a Scada system utilising the turbines' existing software.

The Envision system was designed by a team in the US and programmed in China.

The decision to use condition monitoring as a way into the US market represents a different strategy to that taken by other Chinese turbine manuafacturers.

Goldwind and Sany have both developed US projects as way of establishing a turbine service record in that country.

Additionally, Envision is on the verge of signing its first European turbine deal. The company is currently in talks with a developer about a supply deal for a Swedish wind farm.
