The company commissioned the 150MW Massif du Sud wind project and the first 150MW phase of the Lac Alfred wind farm. Both projects are 50% owned by Calgary-based pipeline giant Enbridge.
EDF EN is currently constructing the 150MW second phase of Lac Alfred and will break ground soon on what will be Canada’s largest wind farm, the 350MW Rivière-du-Moulin project.
EDF EN is building the projects with turbines supplied by Repower. The two companies partnered to meet Quebec’s local content requirements, an agreement that gives a huge boost to the German turbine maker in its efforts to build a North American presence.
Repower has also recently moved into the Ontario market, announcing a contract for 105MW and plans for a rotor blade factory in the province that is expected to begin production by the middle of this year.
