The deal will allow the developers to site turbines on five wind farms with a total capacity of 110MW. All of the projects face potential radar issues with nearby Glasgow airport.
ScottishPower initially build its £5 million radar station at Kincardine, southern Scotland, for its 300MW Whitelee wind farm in 2006. The radar covers central Scotland and works in tandem with the airports own version.
The four developers are Gamesa, Muirhall Energy, West Coast Energy, and RWE npower. All of the projects are yet to be build apart from RWE's Middleton project, which is currently under construction.
A spokesman for ScottishPower said the company was in talks with other developers about extending the service. The company was unable to reveal how much each had paid for the data, but said the figure was dependent on the project's size and "other details". It also takes into account ScottishPower's investment in the system.
