Gamesa and HTWN sign first joint project

UNITED STATES: Gamesa is to install one of its 850kW turbines at the New York manufacturing plant of Harbec Plastics.

The deal is being done through community wind group Harvest the Wind (HTWN), which made primary distributor for Gamesa's G5X 840kW range of turbines earlier this year.

The turbine will be installed by the end of the year. Electricity generated from the machine will be used to power the plant.

It is becoming more common for factories to install wind turbines on site to power factories. Last month, Vestas signed a deal with Chilean methanol produced Methanex to install turbines at its factories.

The agreement was for Vestas to advise Methanex on building wind projects around its global facilities, specifically in the Magallanes region of southern Chile.

In November, film brand Fujifilm brought online its 10MW wind farm at its manufacturing facility in Tilburg, the Netherlands.

The wind farm uses five Vestas V90 2MW turbines, which could provide around 20% of the electricity used at the site.
