NPS said that Patton replaces former NPS CEO and president John Danner, who is leaving the company. Additionally, NPS announced the departure of Parthiv Amin, NPS president of distributed wind.
Patton has been with NPS since 2009 when he joined from Vestas where he was senior vice president of engineering and products. Before Vestas, Troy held roles in GE gas-turbine and wind-turbine businesses.
"We are very pleased to appoint Troy Patton as president and CEO of NPS," said John Simon, chairman of the board. "Over the past few years Troy has led the successful development of the NPS 2.3MW permanent magnet direct-drive wind turbine, and he is an industry veteran who has earned the respect of the board, our employees and our customers."
Patton has also been behind the development of NPS's 8MW direct drive offshore turbine. The machine, which is based on the 2.3MW turbine, will have a 175-metre rotor.
